In the fiery crucible of global discourse, a term has scorched its way into the lexicon of international interfaith communities, particularly among supporters of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS), and Free Palestine movements: "Zionism Light." This phrase, often credited to activist Ian Raven, captures a stance of supporting the State of Israel while sidestepping its contentious policies, especially the ongoing oppression in Gaza and the West Bank. To critics like myself, rooted in the orbit of fierce advocates such as Roger Leibman, Greta Berlin, and Rich Seigel, this position reeks of hypocrisy—a mild Jewish supremacism that betrays the universal, unconditional love at the core of Shema and V'ahavta. As I’ve declared, “It is morally wrong and ecologically unsustainable,” a conviction driven by my blood and upbringing to call out the “Jizzraelis” and their “great splooge” of nationalist fervor.
